Homemade Baby Food

Making baby food used to overwhelm me. I thought it sounded like a long and laborious process and why do that when I can buy organic prepackaged food? I decided I needed to try it, especially since I bought the expensive Vitamix blender which, by the way, I am still loving. To my surprise the process was easy, it made a good amount and Clara LOVED it! Here is what I did: -2 sweet potatoes (boiled or cook as you like) they need to be soft -1 peach -breast milk (amount depends on the consistency you are going for). Could substitute with water. Mix all ingredients in blender, then portion out into containers. Took me all of 15 minutes. Here are other additions you can add to sneak in healthy fo

The Ketogenic Diet

I have been getting a lot of questions regarding the Ketogenic diet. Is it right for me? Will I lose weight on it? I know a friend who lost a ton of weight with it. It is getting a lot of attention lately so I wanted to share some facts about it in case your were curious. The Ketogenic Diet, dating back to the 1920s, was created to help control epileptic seizures in individuals who do not respond to medication. The diet is based on the process of ketosis, in which the body uses ketones for fuel instead of glucose. When Life Gives you Lemons, Make Margs

This has absolutely nothing to do with health and wellness and that is the way my mom would have wanted it. She loved her margaritas, cheetos, chocolate, rocky road ice cream... I don't have her margarita recipe (like she followed recipes anyway) but I did want to share my new favorite way to make them. I think she would have thrown a few back. -2 to 2.5 oz Camarena Tequila (ounces depend on how strong you like them) -1 cup to 1.5 cups Jose Cuervo margarita mix (again, depends on how strong you like them) -1 drop Lime essential oil (this ad

The Mystery of Motivation

I get asked all the time what keeps me motivated. When I sit down and think about this question it boils down to a few things. I listened to this TED talk (link here) and it clicked. This talk explores what motivates humans and what drives better performance. Most companies are set up to give incentives or rewards for better performance, but research shows that this may not be the best way to motivate people. According to research, people perform better better when 3 things are present: 1. Autonomy (the urge to direct our own lives) 2. Mastery (the urge to get better and better at something) 3. Purpose (yearning to do what we do in the service of something larger than ourselves). We do thing
