5 Ways to Avoid Weight Gain During Valentine's Day

I hear this all the time…. Well my boyfriend, husband, significant other bought me this treat and I ate it because I didn’t want to hurt his feelings. If this is you, then read on because I am going to give you some tips on how to prevent holidays from derailing you on your quest to better health. Holidays should be fun, they should not stress you out and induce fear because you know you can’t control yourself when treats present themselves. Here are a few tips to keep in mind.

  1. If your significant other buys you a gift that you end up eating (out of fear of hurting their feelings) and then hate yourself for it, then you need to have a conversation with your significant other about YOUR goals. Jeremy knows not to buy me a box of chocolate because it will literally sit there. He buys me an essential oil, or flowers, or something that I truly enjoy and aligns with my goals. Honesty is not mean and I guarantee you that they want to give you something that you truly enjoy and makes you feel good.

  2. Plan a date night that is active. There are so many fun places to go now on dates that can be both fun and keep you active. Find those places, and instead of planning a movie date try something that is both new, fun and active! Some ideas include: bowling, top golf, escape rooms, explore a new park, the possibilities are endless. Jeremy and I really enjoy sporting events or concerts when we get some free time to ourselves.

  3. If you are like me and love chocolate then prepare some chocolate treats ahead of time that will not make your pants scream when you put them on. I have some healthy options here! HEALTHY CHOCOHOLICS

  4. Remember this golden rule: having one bad meal will not make or break your goals. REPEAT THAT to yourself until you believe it! If you have a fancy dinner planned that you want to enjoy, great! Enjoy it, but try and be on point with your diet leading up to that meal and after it as well.

  5. Work out the day of your fancy meal or lovely dessert :) Staying active always helps
